Cross Pattern Crawling

This exercise is a continuation of work for the Asymmetrical Tonic Neck Reflex (ATNR)

Technique:

  • Crawling on all fours
  • Moving the opposite arm and leg together at the same time
  • Both the hand and the knee of the opposite leg land at the same time
  • Head is turning toward the hand that is in front or advancing to be in front

Frequency:

  • Crawl for a 2 minute timer with no rest breaks

Undesired observations: Exercise is not complete until the below observations or gone:

  • Movement is not smooth and coordinated.
  • Hands or knees do not land at the same time.
  • Eyes do not follow leading hand.
  • Difficulty maintain table position (back dips or arches)
  • Elbow of straight arm bends when head turns
  • Time or rhythm confusion
