BALANCED BRAIN ~ THRIVING CHILD
Kim Lowack
One Leg Stand
Eyes Open

Activities with and without the visual system continue to develop optimal vestibular function, an essential foundation for all sensory processing and movement control.
Technique:
- Begin with your child standing on one leg with eyes open and hands on hips
- The goal is to maintain the center of gravity for 30 seconds without wavering off midline more than 1 inch with the upper body.
- Once standing with eyes open for 30 seconds is achieved then you will move to standing on one leg with eyes closed for 30 seconds.
- You can use tape on the floor to assist with a visual reference
Frequency:
- 1-2 x daily
Undesired observations: Exercise is not complete until the below observations or gone:
- Loss of balance more than 1 inch in either direction
- Wiggling or movement of feet in any direction
- Any rest breaks
